Abstract
Pregnancy with epilepsy is a rare case. The incidence ranges between 0.5-1%. All anti epileptics are pregnancy category D drugs having definite teratogenic effects. However carbamazepins are considered to be the safest drug. A 24 year old lady with Grand Mal epilepsy was managed during pregnancy till delivery. A conservative approach with close monitoring of both mother and baby was done. At 39 week 3 days a healthy male baby of 2180 gram delivered via cesarean section. The entire time of pregnancy, delivery and puerperium were uneventful. In this case report the issues of therapy and risk assessment in pregnancy with Grand Mal epilepsy was discussed.
