Abstract
Ocular Cicatricial Pemphigoid (OCP) is a form of mucous membrane pemphigoid (a group of rare, chronic autoimmune mucocutaneous blistering disease) that affects both eyes with a peak age of onset after 60 years of age and predominantly affects female (2:1 over males). There is no racial predilection and incidence is estimated to be about 1 per 10000 to 50000. Clinical observation was made in one patient giving the typical history of Dry eye syndrome (DES). We report a patient, age above 65, presented with insidious onset of nonspecific symptoms like foreign body sensation, redness, photophobia, vesicles, greyish white patches in conjunctiva of both eye more in right eye with remissions and exacerbations. Finally it progressed to cicatrisation with formation of inferior symblepheron shallowing the inferior fornix, pannus formation and finally a dry eye. Timely intervention will either cure the patient fully, or at least prevent all the complications and may save useful vision.
