Abstract
In Bangladesh, acute poisoning is a common reason for hospitalization. This was a retrospective autopsy report-based analysis performed in the Department of Forensic Medicine of Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital to determine the risk factors for acute poisoning, Barisal during the study period of 1st January 2017 to 31st December 2017. Age incidence was highest (79%) in between the age of 21-30 years. Sex distribution revealed 53.3% females whereas 46.7% males. The result showed that acute poisoning was more common in married person (64.98%). Suicidal poisoning was commonest method of acute poisoning (76.64%) found in this study. This study also revealed that stressful relationship (68.53%) was commonest reason of suicidal poisoning. Poisoning mitigation measures can be supported by the identification of risk factors.
