Abstract
Examination of bone is very important to identify and estimate sex of an individual. There is a deficit of published articles on morphometric data of fully ossified human femur in our country. This research was undertaken to establish the values of maximum length of femur and also determination of sex by using it. For this purpose, hundred (100) right femur, out of which 49 (49.0%) male and 51 (51.0%) female which are used for academic purpose was collected and a descriptive observational study was performed on Department of Anatomy, Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College, Sylhet fulfilling the inclusion criteria during the period of July 2018 to June 2019. Samples with any fragment or distortion were excluded. The maximum length of femur was measured as the straight distance from the most superior point on the head of femur to the most inferior point (deepest point) on the medial condyle by using osteometric board and recorded. Then the sex was determined by discriminant function analysis technique. The values of the mean maximum length of right femur was significantly greater in male (45.08± 0.80 cm) than female (40.35±1.02 cm) (p<0.001).

Key Words: Femur, Maximum length, Sex determination.
