Abstract

This paper presents the study of 100 cases of death due to hanging received in the department of Forensic Medicine, M.A.G. Osmani Medical College, Sylhet for postmortem examinations during the span of a period 2006-2009. Among 100 cases 43(43%) cases hanged by rope, 62(62%) used a slip knot whereas only 11(11%) used a fixed knot. Suspension point used was tree in 61% case.
