Abstract
Microphthalmia with Macrophthalmia is a very rare occurrence in the field of ophthalmology. It may be unilateral or bilateral. It usually occurs in association with other systemic disorders such as Congenital spastic diplegia, microcephaly, hydrocephalus, polydactyly, Cerebro oculo facial syndrome, Cat eye syndrome etc. The birth prevalence of microphthalmia has been estimated to be 14 per 100000 population. The risk factors are maternal age 40, multiple births, infants of low birth weight and low gestational age. This case of male child delivered in a hospital by Normal vaginal delivary (NVD) and presented here after long gap due to serious economical problem with right sided Macrophthalmia and left sided Microphthalmia. Diagnosis was confirmed by CT scan, tonometry and slit lamp biomicroscopy. From the pediatrics evaluation baby has the following features of history of low birth weight (2.2 kg), mental retardation, hearing problems and unable to speak yet. There were cardiac anomalies like ASD, VSD, PDA also.
