Abstract
Scar endometriosis usually occurs after surgical procedures, especially after cesarean section. The incidence of endometriosis after cesarean section has been reported to be 0.03-0.40%. This case report describe a 27-year-old female patient para2 (P2), who underwent lower segment cesarean section 1 and 1/2 year back presented with a painful lump at the stitch line (P-fannenstiel incision) for the last 7 months. The hump used to be increasing in size and more painful during menstruation. On per abdominal examination a tender lump of about 5 cm x 5 cm was found at the right side of the stitch line, surface was smooth surfaced and firm in consistency. Fine-needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) of lump showed sheets and clusters of epithelial cells appearing to form glands, degenerated cells, and hemosiderin laden macrophages suggestive of endometriosis. Wide excision of the lump was done. The histopathological report confirmed it to be scar endometriosis.
Key Words: Cesarean section, scar endometriosis.
