Abstract
Extensive alteration occurs in the cardiac functions during physical exercise. The objectives of this study is to observe some aspects of cardiac functional status of Bangladeshi young healthy adults by Exercise Test in order to find out the hidden cardiac abnormalities. This cross-sectional study was carried out in the Department of Physiology, Sir Salimullah Medical College, Dhaka, from 1 January, 2009 to 31 December, 2009. Heart rate was significantly (p<0.001) increased at 5, 10 and 15 minutes of post exercise period and systolic blood pressure was significantly increased at 5 minutes (p<0.001) and 10 minutes (p<0.05) of post exercise period in comparison to pre exercise values. Whereas, diastolic blood pressure remained almost similar at different post exercise period. Moreover, almost all the cardiac function parameters, except heart-rate, had returned to their pre-exercise values in majority of subjects within 15 minutes of post exercise period. This study concluded that Exercise Test can alter cardiac function even in normotensive young adult males.

Key word: Exercise test, Heart rate, Blood pressure
