Abstract
Objective: Counting of white pulp in different age groups and comparison as to whether there was difference between different age groups.
Method and material:
This study was carried out on 80 autopsied human spleen aged 7 to 85 years. The collected samples were grouped into A (0-15 years), B (16-60 years), and C (>60 years), Six fresh spleen were taken from each age group for histological study. The sections were processed and were stained with H&E stain. Six good slides from each group were chosen for study. 18 fields were examined from six slides.
Result: The number of white pulp of spleen was more in group B than in others but was not significant statistically.
Conclusion: there was no significant change in number of white pulp with increasing age.
