Abstract
Laparoscopic cholecystectomy has become popular in our country. But there are a lot of difficult cases such as obese patient, history of previous abdominal surgery in epigastrium or right upper quadrant, acute cholecystitis, ultrasound criteria of difficult cases like fibrosed or contracted gall bladder, increased thickness of gall bladder wall, distended gall bladder due to stone impacted in the neck of the gall bladder etc, where the chance of complications during laparoscopic cholecystectomy is more. For reduction complications in these complicated cases, various studies are going on in different parts of the world. In Bangladesh, although number difficult laparoscopic cholecystectomy is more, there are very few studies on complications in difficult cases. But it is very important to study about complications in difficult laparoscopic cholecystectomy cases for further improvement of quality services to the patients and this has inspired me in doing this study. Laparoscopic cholecystectomy is one of the most commonly performed operation world wide as well as in Bangladesh. But a lot of complications can arise during operation and in the postoperative period particularly when difficult cases are selected for laparoscopic cholecystectomy. If extensive study can be done on complications of difficult laparoscopic cholecystectomy and with there management, guideline for better management of difficult laparoscopic cholecystectomy cases can be set.
