Abstract
Glycemic control is assessed by Glycated hemoglobin Ale (HbA1c) in diabetic patient. Iron deficiency anaemia is most common cause of anaemia especially in Bangladesh. So this case-control study was done to assess the relationship between iron deficiency anaemia & HbA1c in non diabetic patient. 50 non diabetic patients with iron deficiency anaemia wax taken as case who were attending the Medicine & Gynae outdoor department of JRRMC and 50 healthy controls were enrolled after fulfilling the inclusion & exclusion criteria Mean HbA1c level is more in iron deficient anaemic non- diabetic patient in comparison to non anaemic non diabetic patient Mean HbA1c was 5.09±0.61 in control group where in case group was 6.20±0.76. The difference is statistically significant (P<0.001). Fe deficiency anaemia is an independent factor affecting HbA1c level in non diabetic patients & should be interpreted carefully in all iron-deficit anemic patients.
Key Words: Iron deficiency anemia. HbA1c.
