Abstract
World cancer burden is increasing alarmingly. The treatment of cancer patient in resource limited country like Bangladesh is challenging. For proper utilization of resources we should know the disease profile of cancer in different area. This descriptive cross sectional study was conducted with the aim to evaluate the pattern of cancer patient attended in the radiotherapy department of North East Cancer hospital. Data were collected in the predesigned and pretested form by document review. Out of 1685 patient 263 were treated by radiotherapy in one year (February 2016-January 2017). Among these 263 patients, majority (67.68%) were from Sylhet. Highest proportion of them were male (57%) and within 40-60 years (43.7%) age group. Majority (44.1%) of patients was attended with cancer of Head Neck region. Among the cancer of Head & Neck, most of them (25.0%) were presented with laryngeal cancer and only 11.2% had cancer of tonsil. Most (48.3%) of the cancer patients were treated by 3DCRT (3D conformal radiation therapy).
